In the past few years living here, I have noticed that one thing the state of North Carolina desperately needs is an organized, efficient, accessible public transportation system. The greater Charlotte area's CATS system is a great example of how beneficial a streamlined transit could be on a larger scale. Currently North Carolina 98 statewide transit systems with over 2500 vehicles and 5000 employees total.
The benefits of a unified, state-funded public transit system would be immense. This system would of light rail units, metropolitan area to metropolitan area bus routes, and localized routes in all major cities would provide affordable, quality transit services to nearly all of North Carolina's residents.
As I push for more statewide public transit methods I will be continually updating this blog, especially when I begin looking to more government-funded nationwide transit systems, so stay tuned for more.
